Hello everyone,
I'm Brazilian photographer Wagner Araujo (@wags.photo). It was a very exciting year shooting for ITU in 2018.
I've been trying to add more and more artistic shots to our journalistic coverage and it went very well, especially in the ITU Multisport World Championships where we have many days and opportunities for great shots. Talking about the World Championships I had the chance to cover and race in Fyn Denmark. I raced the Sprint Duathlon and less than 10 minutes after I crossed the line I had my cares ready to shoot the race I was in! It was very exciting.
My favourite shot from the entire season was the 'Sistine Chapel' Mixed relay image from Edmonton. It shows just a small part of the action but it's a very powerful image that summaries the hole spirit of the super exciting relay races.
I was fortunate enough to work with great moto drivers this year allowing me to try some really creative and innovative panning shots.
My season was also more about details and close-ups this year. I absolutely love wide angle and 'sportscapes' images but in 2018 I was feeling more about small but powerful details.
Last but not least I paid more attention to the after finish line moments this year in order to show how intense ITU races are. It's always an honour to work with my friends ITU photographers Delly Carr, Janos Schmidt and Tommy Zaferes in order to show the entire world how amazing our sport is.
