I’m Wagner Araujo, most known as Wags, the Brazilian lens of ITU. I’ve been involved with Triathlon for more than 15 years. First as an athlete (I’m still racing as an age grouper) and later as a photographer (10 years from now).
Since 2013 I have the opportunity to cover ITU World Cups. From 2015 on I’ve started covering the main events like the Rio Olympic Test Event and WTS races. It was a long season in 2019 with many World Cups and the WTS events around the globe. Luckily, we have a team of wonderful photographers who managed to cover all those races: Delly Carr (my great mentor in my career), Janos Schmidt, Ben Lumley and Tommy Zaferes.
As photojournalists we always seek for a clean, meaningful and powerful images that can translate reality in its core. In order to achieve that we usually shoot details, close ups, wide angle, POV and panning shots.
My collection from 2019 is pretty much a synthesis of how diverse the photojournalist’s work can be. I’m very happy to share them with you.
