Paris 2024 Olympic Games

Olympic History

Triathlon made its official Olympic debut at Sydney 2000, where Simon Whitfield (CAN) and Brigitte McMahon (SUI) stamped their names in the history books as the sport's first gold medalists. In Athenes four years later, it was Hamish Carter (NZL) and Kate Allen's (AUT) golden moment, before Emma Snowsill (AUS) and Jan Frodeno (GER) won the golds at Beijing 2008. At London 2012, it was Alistair Brownlee (GBR) who became Olympic champion in front of this home crowd along with Nicola Spirig (SUI), a feat he would repeat in Rio 2016 where Gwen Jorgensen (USA) was also crowned champion.
